The Family Seat - A brief history

The driving force behind the design and invention came about through the experiences of toilet training and the every day practicalities of a family bathroom.

‘add on inserts’ tend to move and slide around, require constant handling, are not aesthetically appealing and can be a space and storage issue.

This led to the challenge of creating an all-embracing combination quality finished seat. It had to have both the standard “adult seat” and for young children, a “child friendly toilet trainer seat”, purposely designed to look just like the one Mummy and Daddy use.

Through exhaustive tests and parental feed-back the blue print for the first practical working combination seat emerged, which passed with flying colours, thus resulting in the FAMILY SEAT.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

The Family seat® is designed for toddlers as well as Adults and eliminates the need for inserts etc, however, we advise parents / carers to supervise the child at all times whilst they are using the toilet. The parent / carer should (until they consider otherwise) operate the child seat for the child (unlock & lower, lift up & lock). When the child is competent with the child seat, the catch can be left in the “open” position thus allowing the child to lift and lower the lid and seat themselves.

The Family Seat® is fitted with a “rotating catch” and magnetic catch on the polypropylene version. At the time of packaging is in a locked position. This is located on the underside of the lid at the front (this may be tight at first), after several turns the catch will turn more freely.
